The second annual Beauty ‘N Brunch has come and delivered! Beauty ‘N Brunch, presented by the Beauty and Brains organization founded by Janet and Jennifer Martin, is a scholarship and networking event for young ladies to be empowered through other women while achieving great things in academia.

Beauty and Brains Organization is based in the Chicagoland area, but with the release of their upcoming app, they will have nationwide reach. The city is filled with limitless potential, however, a lack of resources and funding can restrict future possibilities for the youth, which Beauty and Brains Organization aims to combat.

As founders of the Beauty and Brains Organization, they’ve been a hot topic in the media. The Chicago-based organization helps young women build their confidence and professional network by offering scholarships, ambassador opportunities, and career development workshops.

CHICAGO — In an effort to pave the way for more opportunity for those in need, two college student sisters teamed up to create an organization to help other Black female college students succeed.

A Black Lives Matter march through Palos Hills on Saturday showed how much work remains to be done to help people in the south and southwest suburbs understand racism and systemic inequality.

It was 95 degrees, with very high humidity, but a very diverse crowd came out to march.

A Black Lives Matter group plans to meet at Stagg High School and march along Roberts Road on Saturday, July 18.

A “Beyond the Borders” protest organized by Beauty and Brains, a Chicago-based non-profit, makes its way along 111th Street in Mt. Greenwood on June 13. About 125 people participated, and they called for police reform and an end to racism. Dozens of counterprotestors lined the route. Police said there were no arrests or property damage as a result of the protest.

As a number of counterprotestors lined 111th Street Saturday, many Mount Greenwood residents supported the Black Lives Matter march.
